Yogyakarta Teaching and Education Institute (YTEI) was established on May 21, 1964. Based on Republic of Indonesia's Presidential decree No. 54 of 1982, on September 7, 1982 there was a change in the organizational structure of YTEI, including the change in the name of the Teaching and Exact Faculty (TEF) to become the Faculty of Education of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FEMNS). Furthermore, the Minister of Education and Culture through Decree No. 0554/0/1983 determined the types of department at FEMNS namely the department of Mathematics Education, Physics Education, Chemistry Education and Biology Education. In 1997, there was an expansion of the mandate from YTEI to Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) so that starting in 1997, UNY opened non-educational programme. The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Programme was established in 1997 with the decree of General Director of Higher Education No. 240 / DIKTI / Kep / 1997. The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Programme is in the Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Programme has been accredited “A” from the National Accreditation Bureau, Higher Education (BAN-PT) with decree No. 2865 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / S / XII / 2016 which are valid from 1 December 2016 to 1 December 2021.
