STUDENTS OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MATHEMATICS, FMIPA, UNY SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVE THE GRANTS CONFERENCE IN NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY (NTU), SINGAPORE
Publication of scientific papers is very important for university level students, lecturers, masters, researchers to professors. After conducting research, anyone has the right to publish his work to both national and international levels. This was done by Prihantini, a 2015 Class of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics student who managed to get a conference grant in the 2018 Graduate Student Conference (GSC) which was held by the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore on 19-20 October 2018.
The Graduate Student Conference was attended by Singapore students, especially NTU. The Graduate Student Conference was held for 2 days - on the first day , October 19, 2018 , there was a workshop on various technologies which was learned in Singapore and also hands-on training using tools guided by GSC supervisors and committee. On October 19, 2018 the program started from morning to evening around 18.30 Singapore time which is consisted of several sessions. While for the works publication will be held on October 20, 2018 from morning until 14.30 Singapore time.
On the second day, before carrying out the publications of each presenter's work, a public lecture was held by 2 main speakers from Nanyang Technology University. This activity were attended by masters, doctors and professors. No undergraduate student who joined the Graduate Student Conference was found. This is our pride that Prihantini as a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics student who was given the opportunity to participate and publish her work among masters, doctorates and also professors. From Yogyakarta, Prihantini along with 3 other presenters who are alumni of UNY and presenters from Universitas Gadjah Mada who are currently studying master's degree.
"This is a valuable scientific publication experience for me. On the other hand, I do not deny that there were never any undergraduate students participating in this activity, and this motivated me and I can join with any level to compete others there. There is no need to consider our own abilities, because we don't need to try because we will never know about our abilities. I am grateful to give the opportunity to participate in this activity without paying any fees, because having to publish international publications there needs to be a registration fee to be able to publish their respective works," she said. For Prihantini, this can spur motivation to move forward in writing and publishing her research work and can produce motivation for other students to be more active in writing and presenting their work in publication.
